CHNGES faculty and students regularly work on myriad of sustainability related projects under the direction of Dr. North. Just to name a few, Ellen Barringer studied the use of green tours to educate about sustainability on university campuses. Kianoosh Ebrahimi studied zero-waste planning and management at universities. Brita Austin studied the use of GIS story maps to promote participation in sustainability-related activities. We even had Jason Fox study the promotion of sustainable whale-watching practices by promoting communication among tour operators. We have even been able to identify the characteristics of instructional visualizations that most successfully communicate about
karst landscapes to improve an observers’ understanding about the development and interconnectedness of karst landscapes and the relationship of these systems to groundwater resources.
